Section 3

Hazards Identification

Harmful by inhalation. Irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. May cause sensitisation by inhalation.
Section 4 First-Aid Measures
Inhalation Move the exposed person to fresh air at once. Get medical attention. Provide rest, warmth and fresh air. When breathing is difficult, properly trained personnel may assist affected person by administering 100% oxygen.
Skin Contact Remove contaminated clothing. Wash the skin immediately with soap and water. Get medical attention promptly if symptoms occur after washing.
Eye Contact Make sure to remove any contact lenses from the eyes before rinsing. Promptly wash eyes with plenty of water while lifting the eyelids. Continue to rinse for a t least 15 minutes and get medical attention.
Ingestion DO NOT induce vomiting. Never make an unconscious person vomit or drink fluids. Rinse mouth thoroughly. Drink plenty of water. Get medical attention immediately. Provide rest, warmth and fresh air.
Section 5 Fire-Fighting Measures
Extinguishing Media

Water spray, extinguishing powder, co2, foam, dry powder.

In case of fire, formation of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, isocyanate vapour and traces of hydrogen cyanide is possible.

Section 6 Accidental Release Measures
Do not empty into drains. Remove mechanically; cover remainder with wet, absorbent material (e.g. sawdust, chemical binder based on calcium silicate hydrate or sand). After approx. 1 hour transfer to waste container and do not seal (evolution of CO2!). Keep in a safe ventillated area for several days.
Section 7 Handling and Storage

Keep container tightly closed and dry. Avoid product temperatures above 25oC, and below 5oC. Ensure adequate ventillation or exhaust ventilation in the working area

No special measures against fire or explosion.

Section 8 Exposure Control/Personal Protection
Diphenylmethane
4,4' - diisocyanate
Long term exposure - 0.02mg/m3
Short term exposure - 0.07 mg/m3
Respiratory Protection/Ventilation Required in inadequately ventilated workplaces. Air fed masks are only suitable for spraying for short periods. For continuous production mechanical air extraction in a purpose designed booth is essential.
Protective Clothing Wear Protective Clothing
Eye Protection Goggles
Hand Protection Gloves PVC or nitrile are suitable
Skin Protection Change contaminated clothing. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work.
Respiratory Protection In case of hypersensitivity of the Respiratory tract (e.g, asthmatics and those who suffer from chronic bronchitis) it is inadvisable to work with the product.
Section 9 Physical and Chemical Properties
Appearance Dark Brown
Odour Earthy-musty
Flash Point Above 200oC
Flammability Non-Flammable Liquid
Auto Ignition Tempertature Above 400oC
Viscosity @ 25oC Approx. 3500 – 4500cps @ 250 cP
Vapour pressure Below 0.0001 hPa @ 25oC
Relative Density @ 20oC 1.12 g/cm3
Solubility in water Insoluble - reacts
Section 10 Stability and Reactivity
Thermal decomposition Polymerizes at about 260oC with evolution of CO2
Hazardous decomposition products No hazardous decomposition products when stored and handled correctly
Hazardous reactions Exothermic reaction with amines, alcohols, acids and alkali. Reacts with water forming CO2. Closed containers may rupture owing to increase of pressure.
Further information Open pressurised contains carefully to release pressure
Section 11 Toxicological Information
LD50 Oral (Rats) Above 15000mg/kg
LC50 Inhalation (Rats) 370mg as aerosol / m3, 4 h of exposure
Effects of exposure (i) Eyes - Strong irritation, lachrymation, burning.
(ii) Skin - Dehydration, possible sensitisation.
Special properties / effects Respiratory system (vapour in high conc.) - Irratation of the mucous membranes in the nose, throat, pressure on the chest, sometimes accompanied by breathing difficulties and headaches. Delayed appearance of the symptons and allergic reaction in susceptible persons possible.
Section 12 Ecological Information
Do not allow to escape into waters, wastewater or soil. The product reacts with water at the interface forming CO2 and a solid insoluble product with high melting piont (Polyurea). This reaction is accelerated by surfactants (e.g. detergents) or by watersoluble solvents.
Section 13 Disposal Consideration
Disposal of the wet adhesive is govered by the Control Pollution (Special Wastes) Regulations 1980. Non-recoverable waste should be disposed of via a licensed waste disposal contractor.
Section 14 Transport Information
Not classified as dangerous for carriage. Keep separated from foodstuffs.
Section 15 Regulatory Information
